Welcome! Join the conversation

We give our patients solid advice in living a healthy life, but tend to infer: "Do as I say, not as I do." It's as lame as when spoken by parents.

How can we learn to "walk the talk"?

How can we live healthier, more balanced lives?

How can we embody the ideals that inspired us to be healers in the first place?

How can we heal our culture?

YOUR ideas are needed - students, residents, as well as practicing health-care professionals - WRITE your COMMENTS.

"Enlightened health care invites patients and caregivers into a relationship of healing that is a mutual journey towards wellness.  During the journey both parties are encouraged and enabled to grow, to learn, and to heal.  Such a journey includes acceptance, respect, mindfulness, compassion, and humor."          Harvey Zarren MD       http://www.healinghealthcareassoc.org/learningmodules.htm

  1. Great questions... for me, it's about having a supportive, like-minded community who they, themselves, are attempting to embody this wisdom. Without such a community, efforts for "balance" seems futile.

    1. I strongly agree Mandy. There's a wonderful collective momentum / enthusiasm that can sustain all sorts of worthwhile activities such as meditation, exercise, dieting, continuing education, fundraising, building homes (Habitat) ...
