Regardless of one's intelligence & education, if one is not a skier, simply watching skiers and reading any amount about skiing is not only quantitatively, but qualitatively different than learning to ski, and then becoming an increasingly proficient skier. MEANINGFUL learning is iterative (step-wise) and experiential - body-emotions-mind - completely transformative. In other words, before one starts skiing, one has NO IDEA about skiing, and, while one is struggling on a bunny hill, one has NO IDEA how one feels to competently ski an intermediate hill (I have no idea how skiing a double black diamond competently feels).
So for me, hearing "It doesn't get any better than this!" is sad. Fear condemns too many to settle for "ordinary unhappiness" - those who may be smart, but not wise. WISDOM is our calling - we are homo sapiens sapiens!
