Healing music

A couple of days ago, my wife and some of her friends attended, and were profoundly moved by the 2011 movie "The Music Never Stopped."

Yesterday, (March 4, 2012) the second half of CBC radio's "Tapestry" program, "Sound and Spirit" just happened to be about music therapy (starting at 26 min 17 secs).

Music therapy is a wonderful way for some people, who don't seem to have any other means, to open up and participate in life as whole human beings - a real joy to witness.

"Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Music has nonverbal, creative, structural, and emotional qualities. These are used in the therapeutic relationship to facilitate contact, interaction, self-awareness, learning, self-expression, communication, and personal development."
