Though highly intelligent and technically skilled, "physicians often lack skill levels in the social/emotional intelligence domain. In the
context of this study, it was discovered that medical students tend to lack self-awareness and
an empathic connection with others, but these emotional skills can be taught. ... people who possess a high level of emotional intelligence
are liked more by others, rise to leadership positions, and when coupled with high technical
skills are often on the high end of the income pay scale."
