Towards living an authentic, congruent life

"If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do, chapels had been churches and poor men's cottages princes' palaces. It is a good divine that follows his own instructions: I can easier teach twenty what were good to be done, than be one of the twenty to follow mine own teaching." Portia in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice.

In mindfulness practice, we intentionally study our own thoughts, intentions, drives, values and behavior in order to enjoy as conscious and as sane a life as possible. As one meditation teacher put it: “… it takes a bit of meditative presence to be with what is – just as it is – without being distracted by all the evaluations and comments that habitually arise about our situation.”
